Cycle of Democracy Time to Rinse and Repeat?

March 29, 2011 · Comments Off

breakdown of cycle of democracyIt was several years ago when I posted a short piece on the cycle of democracy. At the time, I was very surprised at the vast number of visits that piece received. I believe that even back then (it was posted in October 2008) people were aware that changes were in the wind. How much things would change only the most rich and powerful knew – the rest of us just felt the first rustlings of a breeze.

Is It True? Is There Really A Cycle of Democracy?

“…the average age of the world’s great civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years…”

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy.” (Cycle of Democracy)

The Cycle of Democracy Often Referred to as the “Fatal Sequence”

* From bondage to spiritual faith;
* From spiritual faith to great courage;
* From courage to liberty;
* From liberty to abundance;
* From abundance to selfishness;
* From selfishness to complacency;
* From complacency to apathy;
* From apathy to dependence;
* From dependence back into bondage.

My reason for writing this information yet again stems from a piece I read on how the bill proposed and passed to assist homeowners to keep their homes is under attack (see Mortgage Reform Storm Is Brewing (CNBC).

Will we once again allow apathy to win out?
What do you think?
Is the cycle of democracy rounding the final bend?

The Doormat of All Doormats Humor

March 9, 2011 · Comments Off

As usual, I can count on my great friend Linda of Forcedgreen to send me a bit of humor, this time surrounding the doormat, your welcome tool to your home. I share these doormat selections with you because they are the ones I enjoyed (and laughed over) the most. There were several other doormat pictures in the email she forwarded, but I just selected six.

The Doormat Humor of the Day

I put these into the order I find either most humorous or (in one particular case) most useful, at least around our house! Enjoy! And pick the doormat that you’d most likely put at your front door :)

Doormat #6 In Our Countdown

come back with a warrant doormat

Don’t stop now, they just get better and funnier…

The Doormat #5 In Our Countdown

what your dog would really say if he could only speak

Doormat #4 In Our Countdown

This particular one is the doormat we most definitely could use at our house. The number of times my husband has to run back to get something he’s forgotten – well it’s a standing joke really around here. Now if I could only find this one in a store somewhere!

reminders as you leave the house

The Doormat #3 In Our Countdown

This one would definitely be something to cut down on those unsolicited knocks and door bell rings at all hours of the day and night!

a bit of the doormat humor

Doormat #2 In Our Countdown

Bet you never thought of this did you LOL!

some offbeat doormat humor

Doormat #1 In Our Countdown

And… here’s the doormat I think many of us would LOVE to have as our welcome. Payback for all those times…!

ultimate of all the doormat choices

So there you go. The doormat that is you most favorite is which one?
